My stay in Kaliningrad was wonderful in every respect. I was met on arrival and lodged in a very comfortable guesthouse only minutes’ walk from the school. My classes at school were excellent, tailored to my needs, and I believe I made some good progress in my Russian language capability. I had the pleasure of working with Marina, Inga and Olga. I also very much enjoyed the school-organized excursions – the horse jumping competition in Chernyakhovsk with Ilya, the City Tour of Kaliningrad with Sergei, and the Kurshskaya Kosa excursion with Irina. Everyone at Privet! was always helpful, from Ilya and Anton in making arrangements for my arrival – enrollment, visa support, etc., to Irina’s working out a schedule of classes to accommodate my needs and desires, and to all for guidance in events and activities to see. As well, I enjoyed the interaction with my fellow students from whom I also learned a lot and with whom I had a lot of fun, both within Kaliningrad and on our own trips to Zelenogradsk and Svetlogorsk. My guesthouse lodging was convenient, comfortable and pleasant. Kaliningrad is an interesting city with a fascinating history and a unique location. I would highly recommend Privet! Russian Language School in Kaliningrad to anyone who is looking to learn/improve Russian language skills and enjoy a unique part of Russia.

Der Aufenthalt hier war eine große Einfahrung für mich. Alles war insgesamt recht angenehm. Der Unterricht war interessant und meistens sehr lustig. Ich glaube, dass ich hier meine Russischkenntnisse erfolgreich verbessert habe. Aber die Ergebnisse werde ich ja schon am Montag im Russischkurs in Deutschland feststellen.

Nur eine kleine Rüge am Schluss: die Sauberkeit in der Wohnung lässt manchmal etwas zu wünschen übrig.

Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit hier.

I enjoyed my stay very much.

Due to the excellent teachers I was able to improve my Russian. The size of the classes was perfect for individual teaching. The excursions were very interesting as well as the overall organization was great.

Unterkunft: hervorragend und viel besser als erwartet.

Unterricht: kompetent und professionell, den Umständen entsprechend individuell; Einzelunterricht: sehr gut.

Betreuung: gut, weil immer ansprechbar. Interessante Excursionen.

Anregungen: webcam für Online-Unterricht, Informationen zur Vorbereitung auf die Kurse im Vorfeld der Reise.

I am pleased to say a few words about the school “Privet!” and my stay in Kaliningrad. If you want a good result from learning Russian in Russia, Kaliningrad and “Privet” is well worth considering. Compared to other cities in Russia, there is not so much to divert attention, though there is still a lot to see.

The school is located in a villa renovated to meet western standard. The entrance is at the ground with no elaboration measures of access.

I found the teachers well qualified both in Russian language and in teaching.

The school was able to provide me with accommodation of western standard within a walking distance of a few minutes.

Liebes Privet-Team,

zunächst möchte ich mich herzlich für die schöne Zeit in Kaliningrad bedanken. Mein Aufenthalt hat in jeder Hinsicht meine Erwartungen übertroffen – organisatorisch, administrativ, aber vor allem der Unterricht, die Unterkunft & die Stadt selbst. Ebenso möchte ich die Exkursionen mit Sergei lobenswert hervorheben. Anregungen & Ratschläge kann ich daher nur in allgemeiner Form geben & nicht direkt auf meinen Aufenthalt & Erfahrungen bezogen.

Beispielsweise sollte die Auswahl d. Gastfamilien wohl überlegt sein & ein angenehmer Aufenthalt gewährleistet werden. Studenten wohnen bei Gastfamilien, um russisch zu sprechen und das sollte sichergestellt werden. Im Bezug auf den Unterricht empfehle ich zu Beginn gemeinsam mit den Studenten die Ziele festzulegen & einen Plan zu entwerfen. In der Schule würde ich eine Infotafel anbringen, auf der sowohl Veranstaltungen (Exkursionen, …), als auch Infos d. Studenten vermehrt werden können – dies erleichterst auch die Kommunikation zwischen den Studenten.

Die Homepage ist ausgezeichnet, einzig würde ich statt „Schuleigene Studentenwohnungen“ „Serviced Apartments“/“Betreute Apartments“ schreiben. Dies klingt besser und entspricht viel mehr der sehr schönen Wohnung. Als kleine Geschäftsidee würde die Postkarten & Briefmarken in der Schule anbieten + event. neben den inkludierten Exkursionen noch weitere Ausflüge + Programme kostenpflichtig anbieten.

Abschließend, möchte ich mich besonders bei Olga + Marina bedanken - beide sehr gute & geduldige Lehrerinnen, mit denen der Unterricht täglich Spass gemacht hat.

Thank you very much for the 2 weeks! It was a pleasure to be here.

I liked the lessons and Inga’s way of teaching. Our group worked well together. I especially liked the mix of grammar and speaking. We also learned a lot about Russian culture. However, I think this cowed be even more integrated into the lessons.

The 2 excursions were very good, liked Sergey’s way of explaining the city and the national park. And we were lucky with the weather! I would have liked to travel a bit more on my own. Therefore I would have liked to know more about busses, trains, timetables and so on. May be you could put a short summary about public transport and timetable on the fridge door? I think it would help new students!

Overall, I liked it very much!

Я очень довольна. Всё хорошо организовано и моя хозяйка очень милая женщина, которая так вкусно варит, что у меня на несколько килограммов больше, чем 2 недели тому назад.

Экскурсии тоже были интересные, потому что экскурсовод-водитель - врач, очень много знает о истории и интересных местах.

Наша учительница тоже очень милая женщина, которая с большим терпением объясняла трудности русского языка.

Конечно, 2 недели – слишком мало, чтобы изучать – изучить совсем невозможно, как я сейчас знаю – такой сложный язык. Значит, что это надо вернуться.

И я вернусь с удовольствием.

I am very impressed with PRIVET Russian Language School in Kaliningrad.

It has been my pleasure to spend this week learning more of the Russian Language + seeing some sights. Ð¡ÐµÑ€Ð³ÐµÐ¹, the driver for touring was “the best”.

I would highly recommend studying at PRIVET in Kaliningrad and I intend to return. It was the best decision I made in regards to learning a second language.

I enjoyed my stay in Kaliningrad very much – the staff of PRIVET was very friendly and helpful.

My accommodation (apartment) was excellent: clean / modern and conveniently located.

The lessons were very good and improved my Russian language skills considerable, although I stayed in Kaliningrad only for one week. I found single tuition somewhat more effective but also more challenging than group tuition which is probably due to the fact that in single tuition you have to talk all the tame.

I participated in two excursions organized by PRIVET, which were very interesting and provided valuable insights in the history and everyday’s life in the Kaliningrad oblast.

In general, I can strongly recommended PRIVET and would like to come back sometimes to improve my language skills still further.

I fully enjoyed staying in Kaliningrad and studying at Russian Language School PRIVET! Lectures were adjusted to my needs and were given by teachers experienced in teaching Russian to foreigners.

Accommodation and condition in the school are satisfactory.

Weekend excursions helped me to understand cultural and natural values of Kaliningrad region. Kaliningrad is a very secure city where I felt home.

Thank you very much again for organizing my stay in Kaliningrad and thanks for the hospitality! The language school was a great place for intensifying my Russian. I appreciated very much the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Marina and Inga seem both to be very experienced teachers with new teaching methods promoting communicating skills in Russian. I think it's really important for learning Russian to set the focus on speaking - of course with taking grammar to a certain amount into account as well. After my three weeks stay I feel enormously motivated and I guess a high motivation is really crucial especially if a language is as complicated as Russian.

It was great to meet the other students even it's of course some kind of a disadvantage to speak any other language than Russian. Well, I guess only if students came from very different places there would be a tiny little chance that they really used Russian to talk with each other.

All the excursions were very interesting!

My host family was really nice and I found the hospitality amazing.

I guess with your very detailed and useful webpage many other learners of Russian will get in touch with the school and I hope you have many guests from all over the world in the future.

Niveau der Schule „PRIVET“ ist meiner Meinung nach sehr gut.

Ich, als Studentin die wiederholen wollte Russisch im Alltag, habe das bekommen. In der Schule waren es vielfältige Übungen und Aufgaben. Die Informationen zu Sprache und Landeskunde waren für mich auch sehr interessant.

Der Familie – Marina und Anatoliy – habe ich mich wohl gefühlt.

Die Stadtexkursionen, Museumsführungen und Theaterbesuche haben dafür besorgt, dass ich mich nicht Gelangweilt habe.
